A blockchain for enterprises

VeChain (VET) is a blockchain built from the start to target 'real enterprise operations'. Beginning around 2015, it has focused on applying blockchain to real-world industries โ€” supply-chain management, logistics and authenticity verification.

Rather than flashy DeFi or memes, its identity is the practical use of recording โ€” tamper-proof โ€” 'which product is genuine' and 'what path it took'.

Two coins โ€” VET and VTHO

VeChain unusually has two tokens. 'VET' is the value-bearing asset, while 'VTHO' is the fee (gas) used to run transactions and contracts. Holding VET automatically generates VTHO.

This dual structure helps enterprises run services at predictable cost. It is designed to separate the two so that usage fees don't swing wildly even when the coin's price rises.

Used in the real world โ€” from Walmart to luxury goods

VeChain's strength is real enterprise adoption. It has built 'visible use cases' โ€” food tracking for Walmart China, work with BMW and the global certifier DNV, and authenticity verification for luxury goods and spirits.

Scanning a chip or QR on a product reveals everything from origin to distribution route. Being 'a chain actually used by real-world industry' is VeChain's weapon.

Toward sustainability โ€” carbon and X-to-earn

VeChain has recently broadened toward 'sustainability'. Through 'VeBetterDAO', it is growing an 'X-to-earn' app ecosystem that rewards users for green actions (recycling, using public transport, and so on).

It is also expanding uses for recording and verifying corporate carbon and ESG data on-chain. It is an attempt to widen from industrial use into a 'sustainability platform'.

Roadmap โ€” Renaissance and staking

VeChain's roadmap is summed up by a major upgrade called 'VeChain Renaissance': performance improvements (such as Hayabusa), introducing staking anyone can join (Stargate), and expanding the sustainability app ecosystem.

The direction is to grow both enterprise adoption and individual participation, raising the real usefulness of the network and token.

What to watch with VeChain

VeChain's long-standing challenge is that 'enterprise adoption doesn't translate well into token value'. There are many partnerships, but they haven't directly driven VET demand or price. Its consensus (PoA) relies on a few authority nodes, drawing criticism that decentralization is weak.

Competition with other enterprise chains and solutions is also a factor. This article is information, not advice; always make investment decisions at your own responsibility.
