OKB

Overview

OKB is a platform utility token issued by the cryptocurrency exchange OKEx (now OKX), described at launch as a global utility token issued by the OK Blockchain Foundation. When it was first introduced in 2018, it was issued on Ethereum's ERC-20 standard with a total supply of one billion tokens. The company stated that it did not conduct an ICO or any public fundraising.

Under the original distribution model, 60% of the supply — 600 million tokens — was allocated to exchange users for community building and marketing campaigns, while the remainder was locked up for periods ranging from one to three years. The token was later moved to the company's own chain, extending its use beyond the exchange platform to related projects. OKB has been used for utility purposes within the exchange ecosystem, such as trading fee discounts.
