Overview

Turbo (TURBO) is an Ethereum-based memecoin launched in 2023, notable for having been conceived through AI rather than by a human designer. Developer Rhett Mankind asked GPT-4 how to create a memecoin on a small budget, and the model's responses shaped the token's name, concept, and issuance structure. For this reason it is widely described as the first memecoin created by artificial intelligence.

TURBO follows the ERC-20 standard with a reported total supply of roughly 69 billion tokens, and its initial distribution was carried out as an open community allocation. It was subsequently listed on a number of centralized and decentralized exchanges and has been extended to some layer-2 networks and other chains. Like other memecoins, it is categorized as a community- and meme-culture-driven asset rather than one built around a revenue model or technical utility.
