Plasma(XPL)

Overview

Plasma (XPL) is a layer 1 blockchain purpose-built for stablecoin payments, with the stated aim of providing infrastructure for a global financial system. Its distinguishing features include zero-fee USD₮ (Tether) transfers and custom gas tokens, which allow transaction fees to be paid in assets other than the network's native token.

XPL is the network's native token and is used for transaction fees as well as validation and network operations. Rather than positioning itself as a general-purpose smart contract platform, Plasma focuses on stablecoin use cases such as cross-border transfers and payments, alongside a related suite of payment-oriented products.
