Overview

OnRe Tokenized Reinsurance (ONYC) is a tokenized reinsurance product from OnRe, which is licensed to deploy digital assets as insurance collateral. The project uses structured products to give investors access to the real-world reinsurance market, with a stated emphasis on transparency, scalability, and capital efficiency.

Its first product, ONyc, is a multi-collateral, yield-bearing asset backed by stablecoins that is used to underwrite real-world private placements and accrues yield from reinsurance premiums. It is currently collateralized in sUSDe, combining reinsurance-derived returns with the yield generated by the collateral assets themselves. OnRe describes its goal as connecting digital asset allocators to the roughly $750 billion reinsurance market.
