Espresso(ESP)

Overview

Espresso (ESP) is a global confirmation layer that gives L2 chains fast, reliable transaction confirmations backed by BFT consensus. It is designed so that chains can obtain dependable confirmation information independently of their own block production.

Espresso confirmations are used to prevent sequencer equivocation, protect against reorgs, and reduce finality risk for solvers in intent-based systems. By sharing credibly neutral information about activity across all connected chains, the layer aims to improve cross-chain composability, and chains can also use it as a decentralized sequencer or a low-cost data availability layer.
