Overview

dogwifhat (WIF) is a Solana-based memecoin whose emblem is a Shiba Inu dog wearing a pink knitted hat. It was launched anonymously in late 2023 and operates on a community-driven model, without venture capital backing or complex tokenomics.

The project is characterized by its focus on meme identity itself rather than adding utility or expanding into DeFi and gaming. It has no formal governance structure or DAO, and decisions are largely driven by social consensus within the community. In March 2024, the community-run 'Sphere Wif Hat' campaign raised nearly $700,000 in USDC to display the mascot on the Las Vegas Sphere, but after prolonged negotiations the effort was abandoned on March 31, 2025, and a refund process was initiated.
