Overview
Berachain is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain built on the Cosmos SDK, designed to support Ethereum smart contracts and developer tooling. BERA is the network's gas token and is used to pay transaction fees.
Berachain uses a consensus mechanism called Proof of Liquidity (PoL), which is designed to link network security with on-chain liquidity provision. The network operates a multi-token model consisting of BERA as the gas token, BGT for staking and governance, and HONEY as a stablecoin.
