Overview

ApeCoin (APE) is an ERC-20 token launched in March 2022 in connection with the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) ecosystem created by Yuga Labs. It has a fixed maximum supply of 1 billion tokens, distributed through an airdrop to BAYC and MAYC holders, an ecosystem fund, and allocations to founding contributors and launch partners.

APE serves as the native gas token of ApeChain and is also traded across several networks, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Solana. The project describes ApeChain, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and Otherside as its three core pillars, with the token used for governance participation, in-ecosystem payments, and access to games, NFTs, and community applications.
