Overview

Akash Network (AKT) is an open-source, decentralized marketplace for cloud computing resources. Built on a Cosmos SDK-based blockchain, it lets anyone with spare server capacity act as a provider and lease computing power to developers, with the stated aim of reducing reliance on centralized cloud vendors.

AKT is the network's native token, used to pay transaction fees, settle resource leases, and participate in securing the chain through staking. Pricing is set through a reverse-auction process in which providers bid on deployment requests, and the platform supports containerized application workloads. Holders who delegate tokens to validators receive rewards according to the protocol's rules.
